Suzuki's 2021 range was low on originality, save from the redesigned GSX-S1000 and Hayabusa. The 2022 range has so far followed suit, with a few models remaining untouched. While the GSX-R1000R is one of the models that hasn't been updated, the House of Hamamatsu is giving the platform a boost with the limited-edition Phantom trim.

The bike was designed to suit both road racers and road riders when it was first debuted in 2006 as the GSX-R1000 K6 Phantom. Unlike the previous Phantom, which was dressed in silver and black, the new GSX-R1000R is dressed in Suzuki's Metallic Matt Black No.2 paint. The gold wheels and Showa Balance Free fork, of course, add to the modest color palette.

Suzuki, on the other hand, doesn't stop at the paint job. Crank and brake lever guards, a tank pad, and fuel cap trim are all included in the Phantom package. In a full tuck, the smoked double-bubble screen may restrict visibility, but it certainly completes the blacked-out look. A Yoshimura R11 silencer sweetens the deal in terms of performance. The black metal magic finish, black heatshield, and carbon cap all adhere to the brand's blacked-out concept.

The GSX-R1000R retains its liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1,000cc inline-four with variable valve timing behind the black bodywork and Suzuki catalog goods. The tried-and-true mill still produces a solid 199 horsepower and 86.7 lb-ft of torque (by superbike standards). Suzuki will only make 100 Phantom Editions, despite the fact that it is an innovative twist on the GSX-R1000R base. Furthermore, the Phantom will only be available in the United Kingdom.
