NOUVEAUTÉ BMW S 1000 R 2021

 NOUVEAUTÉ  BMW S 1000 R 2021

BMW, like Ducati with its Streetfighter V4 and Aprilia with its Tuono V4 (both), will not shy away from a dedicated development for its sporty roadster. She takes the steering wheel and engine (assagi) from her hypersport, removes a portion of the carnage by attaching a right-hand guide, and the race is underway! In 2021, there will be a Rebelote for the new S1000R, and we like it!

There are several philosophies on the market for sporting motorcycles. And the European mentality, in the image of BMW, is clearly the most aggressive. After all, what better way to provide his roadster the highest level of performance than to simply change it into the hypersportive of his range? And with a S 1000 RR that is among the most powerful motorcycles on the market, BMW has unquestionably one of the best starting points. After renewing its track machine two years ago, the German brand is now doing the same for its roadster.

And significant progress has been made, beginning with the châssis. The S 1000 R's frame is based on the Flex Frame of the S 1000 RR and is much lighter than before. It's also more refined, particularly at the genoux level, allowing for a better driving stance. The engine is now a stand-alone component, while the oscillating arms, borrowed from the S 1000 RR, are connected to a Full Floater Pro amortisseur that has been repositioned significantly further away from the engine for better temperature management and adhesion (ndlr: an amortisseur that heats degrades more quickly in hydraulic behavior, in theory). The four 1000cc cylinders were also given an amaigrissement treatment, resulting in a 5 kg weight loss.

BMW S1000R 2021: she might have done 200 horsepower and cost $18,000, but BMW chose a different path.

With 165 chevaux at 11 000 tours, it would have been nice to get a few more trophies to keep up with the competition. One of the possible explanations for this value is the absence of the distribution variable Shiftcam (present on the S1000RR). BMW has also shifted the 4th, 5th, and 6th gear ratios to reduce engine rpm and thus noise and fuel consumption. The anti-dribble embarrassment is now more fluid, and the MSR (motor brake system regulation) is now available as an option. With its new six-axis inertia central, the series dotation is quite rich, and it draws inspiration from the brand's on-track experience with the presence of three piloting modes.

For the most demanding drivers, an optional Dynamic Pro mode uses engine brake control, anti-wheelie, and a brake control system in the event of an emergency stop. Toutes les fonctions paramétrables sont accessible via the new TFT 6,5′′ display, which is also shared with the S 1000 RR and offers a variety of display options. In addition to a USB port, there is a Bluetooth interface for connecting his smartphone. There's a brand-new LED flame that's up to date on the latest technology, as well as the ability of adding additional virage-adaptive lights.

The guidon's position can be adjusted for better ergonomics. The escape is brand new for him, as the entire machine loses 6.5% of its weight on the balance to drop below 200 kg with the full load. A M-pack containing forged aluminum or carbone wheels allows you to lose up to 4,8 kg more. Confort, Dynamic, and Connected packs are also available, all of which are bundled together in a PRO finish that costs 17 995 €. The regular version will be available for purchase in May 2021 for 14 980 Euro. Sure, this price is really a gimmick because buyers would pick for one or more bundles, but it's still appealing. Consider BMW's strategy of staying "quite reasonable" with its hypersporty roadster rather than going all out.
