MAXSYM TL 500

 MAXSYM TL 500

The Tawanais Sym will soon put the new Maxsym TL, the brand's first bicylindre maxiscooter, on the market. Conceived with the utmost seriousness, this direct competitor of the Yamaha T-MAX also focuses on its price to entice: less than 8000 € as a launch price!

Sym had shown his maxiscooter at the Milan Fashion Week last year. It had taken effect, and both retailers and customers were visibly irritated. The motorization of Taiwan's maxiscooter was still being studied: monocylindre or bicylindre, two options were available. The message sent to Taiwan was clear for many European subsidiaries and other distributors: it was unnecessary to sell it in monocylindre form.

As a result, the new Maxsym TL arrives as the brand's first bicylindrical maxiscooter. This isn't the case. The MaxsymTL is also a clear win for the Asian manufacturer, who will now be invited to enter the high-end maxiscooter market, which is now dominated by the Yamaha TMAX 530 in France and Europe.

On the line, the new Sym MaxsymTL is undeniably inspired by the Yamaha TMAX, but it differs from it from a technical standpoint.

Finally, it's clear that the designers were influenced by the Yamaha TMAX. In fact, "the copy" is a success, with a positive line and sailor-like shapes that suggest a sporting spirit. It's hard not to lament the fact that designers aren't more lâchés, opting to distinguish themselves in various ways.

Technically, the MaxsymTL introduces a new mechanical system with a lot of promise: a bicylindre in line with a strong forward inclination and a 360° calé (idem TMAX), a double arbre with a came in the head, 8 soupapes (4 per cylindre), 465 cm3 and a large balancer (though not as heavy as a bielle) that sits in the engine compartment and opposes (bielles et pistons). A sophisticated and difficult-to-manufacture solution with the goal of eliminating vibrations for this engine mounted in a stiff and aligned location in the frame. What does it mean to be a rigid element?

In short, Sym has chosen to put the means in place in terms of motorization.

In terms of announced values, the Sym MaxsymTL is a slight step back from the competition: 30 kw at 6 750 tr/min, or 40,7 chevaux. At 6 250 trs/min, the couple reached 42,5 Nm. What's interesting is the desire to focus on the couple, as evidenced by the cotes internes with a longer course (moteur longue course: 65 mm x 70 mm d'alésage x course). A good omen for the city and peri-urban use. Sym mentions a top speed of 139 km/h, which is adequate for everyday use but a little too fast for those who travel a lot.
