 HONDA NC850S : NOUVELLE PLATEFORME EN 2021

Plans leaked on the internet suggest Honda is working on upgrading the NC 750 platform to a new NC 850 platform (?). This opens up some possibilities for the future. Is it possible to have a fully redesigned NC line? It would be appropriate. Is it possible to build an Africa Twin with this engine? Non.

Almost every week or so, we see plans debarque on the wall, originating from a variety of sources. What to do with the fatty Brussels choux from the motorcycle press... As a result, nothing is true unless it becomes a reality.

This time, it's a set of drawings depicting a possibly new Honda NC 750 S with an 850cc engine (not confirmed). The blueprints clearly show a Honda sage roadster with a noticeably different engine.

The parallel bicylindre, which is very incline, appears to be slightly basculed towards the front and has a more compact culasse, especially in the upper portion. This isn't surprising; Honda has spent the last few years focusing on developing a tiny culasse. However, the new block appears to be rather similar to the model 750 (again, without measuring), implying that the cotes are not too dissimilar. In summary, a cylindre increase and a minor change to the frame can be considered. Clearly, if one looks at the designs, one might speak about evolution rather than revolution.

NC 2021 platform: little cylinder gain, Euro5 homologation, and still A2?

What might we expect from this conceivable and still hypothetical evolution, both at the engine level and at the cycle's component level?

.Un 850 cm3 block that is, of course, Euro5 approved.

.Is it true that the power has been increased to 70 ch? So 52 kw (54 ch env.) versus 40 kw (54 ch env.) for the current NC 750 S (no DCT, non homologuée A2 en standard).

.Similarly, for the couple in progress, knowing that this is the strong point of this engine that doesn't require much maintenance.

.Versions A2 homologuées 35 kW (47,5 ch) are required since an A2 range is required.

.A very identical chassis is essential for comfort and stability.

.Before it, there was a second disc of brakes (which was missing).

.Plus, there's not a lot of weight...

What about the other NC models?

Returning to the NC platform could mean returning to the entire family:

X-ADV 850, NC 850 X DCT, NC 850 D Integra (sauf disparition) (hum, miam)

From a logical standpoint, if Honda invests in a new engine and updates its platform, it will result in a much-improved NC lineup. Nothing is impossible at this level, since the range has progressed from the NC 700 in 2012 to the NC 750 in 2014.

Would this result in the demise of the Integra, which has been harmed by the X-competition? ADV's Is the CTX coming back in version 850? Un model that hasn't had the opportunity to establish itself, as Honda has unfortunately demonstrated in recent years. Take a look...

Is there an Africa Twin 850 with this engine? Non…

We've been talking a lot about a possible Africa Twin of 800/850 cm3 for the near future... She would not have passed the study stage, according to our most recent information. As a result, neither 2021 nor 2022 are in the cards. (snif). Contrary to what some of her contemporaries (both French and foreign) believe, she will not work with this engine, which is too lengthy and appears incompatible with a roue ahead of 21 inches and a somewhat firm column of direction angle.
